Turkmenistan is considering the establishment of a regular car ferry line between the Turkmenbashi international seaport and the Olya seaport, located in the Astrakhan region of Russia, Trend reports citing Orient News.
This was stated by Guych Garayev, Turkmenistan's consul in Astrakhan during a working meeting with Vladimir Golovkov, Astrakhan region's Minister of Foreign Relations.
A special working group has been formed to consider this issue. Moreover, the working group should prepare for the opening of Turkmenistan's logistics center in the Olya port.
The consul also announced that the working group would be visiting Astrakhan soon to work out a project for the construction of a logistics center on the spot.
The working group's activities should contribute to the expansion of trade between the parties and the implementation of previous agreements reached during the meeting between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin.
Earlier it was noted that the center is aimed to contribute to the trade growth between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region, and can become not only a wholesale and transshipment base for Turkmen goods but also a place for the production of its own products.
