Iran records decrease in load/unload operations at Imam Khomeini port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 12.5 percent, in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 22 through July 22, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, 3.75 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 4th month. Of this, 1.95 million tons were loaded and 1.8 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 1.53 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.56 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 132,000 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 4th month, 269,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 220,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 8,140 tons of cargo were loaded and 10,600 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 9,120 tons of cargo were loaded, and 10,100 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

So, 1.3 million tons of essential products, 81,400 tons of metal products, 287,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 614 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, about 304,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 4th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 115,000 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 107,000 tons of container products, about 1.55 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, about 12.3 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 4th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.14 million tons were loaded and 6.19 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 6.8 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
