Cargo movements at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 8.13 percent in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, in total, 3.44 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 8th month. Of this, 1.94 million tons were loaded and 1.5 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, approximately 1.7 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.34 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 50,200 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 8th month, about 186,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 145,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 6,100 tons of cargo were loaded and 6,000 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 193 tons of cargo were loaded and 5,680 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

Some 1.1 million tons of essential products, 122,000 tons of metal products, 374,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 8,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and about 413,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 8th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 44,600 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 106,000 tons of container products, and 1.26 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, approximately 12.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.92 million tons were loaded and 5.76 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 3.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
