BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 16.3 percent in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, in total, 3.16 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 9th month. Of this, 1.5 million tons were loaded and 1.66 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 1.4 million tons of cargo were exported and approximately 1.48 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 12,400 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 9th month, 85,900 tons of cargo were loaded and about 167,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

According to the statistics, 6,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 5,800 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. Furthermore, 288 tons of cargo were loaded and 6,170 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

Some 1.3 million tons of essential products, 135,000 tons of metal products, 357,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 909 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and about 297,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 9th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, 40,500 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, about 110,000 tons of container products, and about 925,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In general, approximately 12 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 9th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.6 million tons were loaded and 5.4 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 8.1 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
