BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), decreased by 23 percent in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2023), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Overall, 2.98 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the 11th month. Of this, 1.75 million tons were loaded and 1.23 million tons were unloaded.

“Also, 1.65 million tons of cargo were exported and 1.07 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. At the same time, 5,030 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for transit,” the statistics said.

Within the 11th month, 61,300 tons of cargo were loaded and 160,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

Furthermore, 4,610 tons of cargo were loaded and 2,230 tons were unloaded in this port for transshipment. At the same time, 22,400 tons of cargo were loaded and 3,180 tons were unloaded for other purposes.

Nearly 731,000 tons of essential products, about 163,000 tons of metal products, 448,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 728 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, and 256,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port in the 11th month of the current Iranian year.

Moreover, approximately 127,000 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 78,900 tons of container products, and 1.18 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.

In total, approximately 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.9 million tons were loaded and 5.88 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.37 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
