BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Shahid Bahonar port in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran), decreased by 18.2 percent for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
About 1.75 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at this port in the last Iranian year. Of this, about 1.55 million tons were loaded and 203,000 tons were unloaded.
Furthermore, more than 1 million tons of cargo were exported and 78,100 tons were imported through the Shahid Bahonar port over the last year.
Also, 10,900 tons of cargo were loaded and 44,700 tons were unloaded at the port for transit.
At the same time, 526,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 9,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage, as well as, 1,290 tons of cargo were loaded and 71,500 tons were unloaded for other purposes during the last Iranian year.
Last year, approximately 579,000 tons of essential products, 72,500 tons of metal products, about 431,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and 50,000 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Bahonar port.
Moreover, 88 tons of chemicals, 407 tons of leather goods, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 22 tons of small and assorted goods, 72,700 tons of container products, and 543,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned period.
Overall, approximately 152 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports over the last Iranian year. Of that, about 80 million tons were loaded and 71.7 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.
