ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 26. Turkmenistan and the Dagestan region of Russia are actively discussing the launch of the first cargo ship between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Makhachkala, Trend reports.
According to official information, it is assumed that this direction will be launched before the end of 2023.
At the moment, the Dagestan region is waiting for data from partners in Turkmenistan on the type of the first ship and the format of the installation on the line, on the basis of which the necessary cargo base and port infrastructure will be prepared.
Furthermore, it was reported that a ferry service for container transportation will be among the first to be launched, and the arrival of the vessel itself will signal the successful establishment of trade and economic ties with the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is working hard to develop shipping by modernizing ports, expanding transport infrastructure, cooperating with maritime neighbors, developing the navy, building logistics centers, participating in international initiatives, and creating a favorable investment environment, which contributes to economic diversification, increasing trade opportunities, and strengthening Turkmenistan's position on the world stage.
