BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6. Cargo transportation by railway transport amounted to 15.3 million tons in Azerbaijan from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
The data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan shows that cargo transportation by railway transport decreased by 0.3 percent year-on-year, while passenger transportation increased by 41.5 percent (up to 5.6 million people).
Rail transportation accounted for 8.2 percent of all freight traffic from January through October 2023.
The number of loaded rail cars amounted to 407 on average per day, while the number of unloaded rail cars amounted to 423.
Cargo transportation by all types of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 186.2 million tons from January through October 2023, which is 5.4 percent higher year-on-year. Passenger transportation in Azerbaijan exceeded 1.5 billion people from January through October 2023, which is 17.8 percent higher year-on-year.
