Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov had a phone conversation on Wednesday, the Kazakh presidential press-service reported.
"The parties discussed relevant issues of bilateral cooperation as well as the implementation of the agreements reached within Uzbek President Islam Karimov's official visit to Kazakhstan on September 6-7, 2012," the press-service said.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the results of the visit and reiterated the previously expressed positions on the construction of hydropower facilities in upper Syr Darya which need independent international assessment and consideration of the views of all parties.
Uzbekistan opposes the construction of the Rogun hydropower plant on the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan and Kambarata hydropower plant on the Naryn River in Kyrgyzstan.
