The overall economic effect from the implementation of National Project for Competition Development during 5 years in Kazakhstan will exceed $6.3 billion, the Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Serik Zhumagarin, Trend reports.
Zhumagarin made the remark speaking at ‘Role of competitive policy in improving the economic welfare of state’ international online round table, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Antimonopoly Service of Kazakhstan
"The agency is developing and will adopt a national project for the development of competition. A distinctive feature of the national projects is the mechanism of their implementation," he said. "The goals and objectives established by national projects are planned to be achieved in accordance with the principles of project management. This implies, among other issues, the inclusion of clear, specific goals and objectives, presence of KPIs, given sufficient resources, as well as mandatory personal responsibility."
According to him, at present the agency is also focused on the protection and development of competition, expanding opportunities and incentives for business activities.
As the agency’s chairman clarified, the national project will undertake three below tasks:
- Development of exchange trading in providing access to ‘key capacity’ and elimination pricing distortion;
- Ensuring access to markets in the field of the electric power industry and;
- Privatization.
"The overall economic effect of the implementation of the national project for 5 years will amount to more than $6.3 billion. The main beneficiaries of the national project will be entrepreneurship entities, as well as consumers," Zhumagarin.
"The national project identifies key projects that determine the format for further addressing of factors distorting competition, within the implementation of state policy on the countrywide competition development, thereby identifying the main vision or benchmark," he added.
