BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. Kazakhstan exported chemicals worth 262.9 billion Kazakh tenge ($592.2 million) in 2022, Deputy Head of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Murat Amrin said in the conference dedicated to Kazakhstan's chemical industry, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.
"Following the latest data for 2022, the chemical industry of Kazakhstan continues to demonstrate steady growth. The production of chemical products increased by 7.6 percent compared to 2021 and reached 908 billion Kazakh tenge ($2 billion). This is one of the highest rates in recent years," he said.
According to the official, petrochemicals (32.9 percent), fertilizers (12.4 percent), and organic compounds (11.1 percent) are among the leaders in the chemical industry. There is also an increase in the production of plastics and synthetic resins, which currently account for 9.8 percent of the market.
Furthermore, Murat Amrin also touched on the exports and imports of chemicals by Kazakhstan. According to him, in 2022, Kazakhstan exported chemicals worth 262.9 billion Kazakh tenge ($592.2 million) and imported chemicals worth 332.3 billion Kazakh tenge ($748.2 billion).
"As for investments, 230 billion Kazakh tenge ($517.9 million) was invested in the chemical industry in 2022, which is two times less than in 2021 (462.6 billion Kazakh tenge, or $1.04 billion). The share of the chemical industry in the total investment in the industry accounted for 3.2 percent, while that of the manufacturing industry was 15 percent," Murat Amrin added.
Additionally, Amrin noted that the chemical industry not only provides the production of necessary materials for other sectors of the economy but also creates new opportunities for export and investment, increasing the potential for development and innovation.
