BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund and India's Adani Group discuss possibilities for the construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) in the Almaty region, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting between Nurlan Zhakupov, the Chairman of Samruk-Kazyna and Sudipta Bhattacharya, the CEO and CTO of Adani Group.
The parties involved discussed building a new TPP in collaboration with Samruk-Energy JSC, a subsidiary of Samruk-Kazyna. Currently, the Fund, Adani Group, and the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan are working towards finalizing the terms of the partner's participation in the project.
Adani Group, founded in 1988, is an Indian conglomerate operating in 50 countries. It comprises nine publicly registered companies engaged in the energy sector, transportation and logistics infrastructure, mining industries, and more.
The proposed partnership between Samruk-Kazyna and Adani Group signifies a significant step in Kazakhstan's pursuit of expanding its energy infrastructure.
The construction of a new TPP in the Almaty region holds the potential to enhance the region's power generation capacity, contributing to the overall development and sustainability of Kazakhstan's energy sector.
