ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 16. The foreign trade turnover of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan with South Korea amounted to $6 million from January through July 2023, which represents an increase of almost two times compared to last year, when this figure was $3.5 million, Trend reports.
This was stated at the meeting of the head of the regional executive power, Nurlan Nogayev, with the Ambassador of Republic of Korea to the Republic of Kazakhstan Cho Tae-ik.
Overall trade between Korea and Mangystau focuses on imports, including passenger cars, auto parts and chemical fertilizers.
During the meeting, representatives of the Korean delegation got acquainted with the investment and economic potential of the Mangystau region, and also discussed the possibilities of increasing investment from South Korea in Mangistau.
"The Mangistau region has a powerful transit and transport and logistics potential on a global scale between Europe and Asia. Cooperation with colleagues from the Port of Busan can contribute to the further development of this industry in our region. We are very familiar with Korea as a developed tourism country with an impressive economy and good infrastructure," Nogayev said.
Trade turnover between South Korea and Kazakhstan in 2022 amounted to $6.5 billion. This is two times more compared to the preceding year.
