BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. The World Bank (WB) is ready to expand cooperation with Tajikistan's State Savings Bank, Amonatbank, in restoring the country's stock exchange market, head of the WB working group Juan Carlos said, a source at the WB told Trend.

The issue was discussed during the meeting between the World Bank’s working group and the Board of Directors of Amonatbank in Tajikistan's Dushanbe, on February 1.

As the World Bank's representative noted, Amonatbank is one of the main system-forming banks in Tajikistan and can make a great contribution to reviving the country's stock exchange market.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Amonatbank, Ikromi Sirojiddin, presented data on bank’s financial activity in 2022. Tajik side also emphasized that despite the negative impact of the internal factors on Tajikistan’s economy, the financial status of the bank is in good condition.

Amonatbank is a state savings bank of Tajikistan that specializes in servicing the population. The bank has a wide service network: 5 regional branches, as well as 70 city and district branches, and 506 agencies.

The cooperation between the World Bank and Tajikistan covers all main sectors of the country’s economy. The WB has provided $2.44 billion and launched 25 projects in the country. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bank allocated $57.5 million to strengthen Tajikistan's economy.
