BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Kyrgyzstan's GDP from January through May 2023 exceeded 355 billion soms ($4 billion), Trend reports.
According to preliminary data from the National Statistical Committee, the country's GDP increased by 3.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2022.
Meanwhile, the volume of industrial production over the first five months of 2023 amounted to over 165 billion soms ($1.8 billion), showing a 1.2 percent growth year-on-year.
This increase can be attributed to the expansion of textile manufacturing, clothing and footwear production, leather and leather goods (up by 29.2 percent), pharmaceuticals (up by 25.7 percent), chemical products (up by 21.8 percent), wood and paper products, printing activities (up by 19.3 percent), rubber, plastic products, and construction materials (up by 15.3 percent), as well as food and beverage, including tobacco products (up by 8.2 percent), and mining of minerals (up by 6.6 percent).
Positive trends are also observed in construction, with a growth rate of 4.6 percent, agriculture at 2.4 percent, and wholesale and retail trade at 15.4 percent.
