Tajik Somon Air eyes expanding its air fleet

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 6. Tajikistan’s Somon Air plans to expand its air fleet by acquiring new comfortable aircraft, the General Director of Somon Air Airline, Abdulkosim Valiev, told during the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the company’s first flight in 2008, Trend reports via Tajik media.

According to him, Somon Air aims to strengthen its position as a regional and international carrier. The company has promised to make every effort in introduction of new technologies and services to the passengers.

According to the information, the company's fleet today consists of six Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-900 aircraft.

As Valiev pointed out, the company also intends to extend the flights' destinations, as well as develop domestic and regional flights.

Somon Air is a member of the IATA (International Air Transport Association), approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and TCO-certified for operating flights to the EU countries. Somon Air corresponds to international flight safety standards, has repeatedly passed the IOSA audit (IATA operational safety audit).

Today, the airlines operate flights to 25 countries including Germany, the UAE, Türkiye, India, Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

Recently, Tajikistan has announced the launching of flights from Dushanbe to Georgia’s Tbilisi and Azerbaijan’s Baku in spring 2023. At the same time, Tajikistan resumes air communication with China from February 8, 2023.
