Turkmenistan appoints new ambassador to the Netherlands

Kakajan Mommadov has been appointed Turkmenistan's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Netherlands, the decree issued by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said on Sept.11.

He will also remain the head of the country's diplomatic mission in Belgium.

Dutch-British Shell company has been showing special interest in Turkmenistan for a long time. In its time, this oil and gas company developed the feasibility study of the project for construction of a gas pipeline to Turkey and Europe.

Turkmenistan has the fourth largest natural gas reserves in the world and adheres to the concept of diversification of hydrocarbon transportation to the world markets, including Europe.

It was earlier reported that the Dutch Alliance Engineering and Construction B.V got a contract for construction of the largest primary oil refining unit in the country with a capacity of three million metric tons in a plant in the city of Turkmenbashi.

It was also earlier reported that Chemix BV International (the Netherlands) got a contract for the supply of equipment, installation and commissioning of a plant for the recycling of lubricating oil waste and other oil products used in Turkmenistan.
