Turkmenistan witnesses rise in output within agro-industrial sector

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 28. The agro-industrial sector of Turkmenistan experienced a 5.5 percent upsurge in production from January through July 2023, in contrast to the equivalent timeframe in the preceding year, Trend reports.

This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atakhallyev at a government meeting held on August 25, 2023.

As per his statements, over the mentioned duration, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan increased production by 5.4 percent, the Ministry of Environmental Protection by 3.8 percent, the State Committee of Water Management showed an increase of 6.6 percent, and the Turkmen Atlary State Association achieved an increase of 1.5 percent.

Moreover, the Deputy Chairman pointed out that the blueprint for advancing investments in agriculture during this timeframe was surpassed by 140.6 percent.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is one of the most important branches of the economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, melon, fruit, and berry crops.
