Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the field of the “Yusupov Gofurjon Fayz” farm in Bekabad region, Uzbek media reported.

In the conversation with farmers of the Tashkent region, the issue of planting cotton in double rows with an interval of 60 centimeters between them, quality implementation of agrotechnical measures and cotton processing was discussed.

“Our setback is that we don’t apply science in agriculture,” the Uzbek president said. “There is ruthless competition in the global market. For success, first of all, a scientific approach is needed. We need new varieties, good care and innovative technologies.”

In the current year, the “Yusupov Gofurjon Fayz” farm grew grain on 31 hectares of land and collected more than 71 centners of the harvest per hectare. Presently, cotton is grown on more than 47 hectares of land. The harvest is expected at the level of more than 35 centners per hectare.

The farmers concluded contracts for the export of mung beans, beans, as well as potatoes and carrots for the domestic market.

“We are providing financial support to farmers,” said the Uzbek president.
