Tomato brown wrinkle virus found in seeds imported from Turkey to Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the State Plant Quarantine Inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
According to the information, State Plant Quarantine Inspection introduced a temporary ban on the export of tomato and pepper seeds from the territory of Bursa (Turkey) to Uzbekistan from February 12, 2021.
It is reported that the brown wrinkle virus was found in 85 kilograms of tomato seeds brought from this region of Turkey.
On February 11, 2021, a notification was sent to the National Organization for Quarantine and Plant Protection of Turkey on the violation of phytosanitary requirements when importing regulated products into Uzbekistan.
To date, the Uzbek State Plant Quarantine Inspection has not received a response letter from the Turkish authorities.
Uzbek State Plant Quarantine Inspection noted that entrepreneurs involved in import must notify the State Plant Quarantine Inspectorate in advance when importing planting material, seedlings and seeds.
At the same time, before the goods are imported, Uzbek inspection contacts the quarantine service of the exporting country and collect detailed information about the product.
