BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. French Groupe Casino food retailer plans to open a supermarket chain in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.
The matter was discussed between the Deputy Khokim (governor) of Tashkent Sharof Rakhmanov, and the Head of theGrope Casino delegation and Director of Cooperation with Middle East and Central Asia Erwan Huard.
During the meeting, Sharof Rahmanov said that Groupe Casino could take a valuable place in Uzbekistan, seeing as the rapid development of the retail trade market provides a unique opportunity for the business sector.
Erwan Huard said the company is interested in opening of a trading network in Tashkent and expressed hope for Hokimiyat of Tashkent (Mayor Office) support for the project.
Following the meeting, the Uzbek side expressed readiness to support the French company, in particular, in the organization of meetings between potential local partners with the assistance of the regional Department of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Grope Casino is one of the French retail networks, which controls a chain of hyper-, super- and minimarkets.
