Uzbekistan notes growth in export of lemons

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 2. Uzbekistan's agricultural enterprises exported 3,500 tons of lemons to seven foreign countries from January through June 2023, which is 968 tons more than in the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the country's statistics agency, the value of the lemons exported amounted to $2.9 million.

During the current year's reporting period, Russia stood at the top of the list of countries that purchased the most lemons from Uzbekistan, with a total of 2,700 tons of citrus fruit being sold to this country.

Kyrgyzstan (388 tons) and Kazakhstan (357 tons) also rank among the top three leading importers of Uzbek lemons.

Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover from January through June 2023 amounted to $29.2 billion, which is $4.7 billion, or 19.4 percent more year-on-year ($24.4 billion from January through June 2022).

As of today, Uzbekistan has established trade relations with 183 countries worldwide. The highest foreign trade volume is recorded with China (18.1 percent), Russia (15.1 percent), Kazakhstan (7.5 percent), Türkiye (5.1 percent), and South Korea (3.6 percent).
