TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 12. The Uzbek car market continues to grow steadily, Trend reports.
Sales of electric vehicles in August 2023 increased by 56 percent and amounted to 497 units, an increase of 89 percent compared to August 2022.
Overall, car sales increased by 2.4 percent to 148,000 units in August 2023, with the most significant growth recorded in the segment of the secondary market for electric vehicles. In August 2023, sales of passenger electric vehicles exceeded 3,700 units, which is 38 percent more than in July.
The largest number of electric vehicles sold was noted in the city of Tashkent (2,800 units), the regions of Tashkent (250 units), and Fergana (139 units). Compared to the same period last year, sales of electric vehicles increased by more than five times.
As per data provided by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), the volume of cars sold on the primary market of electric vehicles amounted to 3,200 units, having increased by 35 percent compared to July 2023 and by 7.3 times compared to the same period last year.
