Iran's oil ministry has not been ordered to stop its EU oil exports, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) quoted the ministry spokesman as saying.
Before it stops oil shipments to other countries, Iran's oil ministry would have to receive an order from the government, said Mohsen Ghamsari, the NIOC's director of international affairs.
The reports about Iran's cutting off exports to EU countries drove up the world prices for Brent crude oil to $119 per barrel, the highest one for the last six months.
Iran has threatened to stop exporting oil to European countries in response to the sanctions they have imposed against Iran. In late January, the EU agreed to stop buying oil from Iran after current contracts run out by July 1. The West's measures are part of an effort to make Iran answer the questions about its nuclear program.
