BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that Iran's economy has expanded by 5.4 percent in 2023, the IMF says in its latest quarterly report titled World Economic Outlook, Trend reports.
The figure is 1.6 percent higher than the country's growth in 2022. The IMF's forecast for Iran's economic growth in 2024 was also revised to 3.8 percent from 2.5 percent in October.
Iran's economic growth stands out in the context of the global slowdown to 3.1 percent.
According to the report, the average economic growth of developed countries was 1.6 percent in 2023, up from 2.6 percent in 2022.
Developing countries had an average growth rate of 4.1 percent in 2023, indicating that Iran's economy has outperformed the average growth rate in these countries.
