(IRIBNEWS) - Head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), Abdul Aziz Hakim, said Iran has been the first assistant to the Iraqi people.
He added the two neighboring countries have commonalties including tribal, family and religious relations as well as a long common border which connects the two countries from the point of interest and threats, reports Trend.
The Iraqi top official further said Iran was the first country which recognized the new Iraqi government and the only country that extended the most humanitarian aids to the Iraqi nation in recent years.
Political will of the two countries' officials are based on the establishment of good and durable relations, Abdul Aziz Hakim said.
