Housing price in Iran’s capital up by 29%

A total of 15,209 residential deals were registered in Iran’s capital city of Tehran in the third month of the current fiscal year (started March 21), indicating a 29.5-percent rise in prices compared with the same period last year.

According to the latest data released by Iran’s urban development ministry, more than 15,000 deals were registered in Tehran in the one-month period, showing a decline of 21.7 percent compared to the second month of the current year (started April 21).

The price of housing units in the capital in the calendar month of Khordad (May 21-June 21) has seen a rise of 29.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2017.

“The average price of one square meter of a residential unit sold through realtors stood at 60.4 million rials (each USD makes 42,500 rials based on official rate), showing a price rise of 7.7 percent and 29.5 percent, respectively, compared with the previous month and same month last year.”

From the 22 districts in Tehran, the highest number of home deals were reported in District 1 with a 14.2 percent share. Districts 3 and 2 came second and third with respective shares of 11.6 percent and 10.3 percent.

According to official statistics calculated with the previous fiscal year as the base year, Iranians allocate 33.1 percent of all their expenses to housing.
