The head of the Basij Organization of Iran announced the start of construction of 5,000 small-scale solar power plants, 240 of which will be located in Kurdistan, Trend reports via Fars news agency.
The head of the Basij Organization of Iran Gholamreza Soleimani made the remark while attending the opening ceremony of 12 small-scale solar power plants in Marivan city of Kurdistan Province.
“What is being done in Kurdistan is to introduce a new model for meeting the electricity demand of the rural areas through home power plants,” Soleimani said.
"In European countries with fewer sunny days, the solar panels provide 30 percent of the electricity,” he said.
He referred to an agreement signed by Basij to build 5,000 solar power plants, 12 of which have been opened today.
