Georgia’s imports of cement in 2021 amounted to $43.8 million, which is an increase of 17.1 percent, compared to $37.4 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
The volume of the exported cement to Georgia over 2021 also increased by 15.4 percent, compared to 2020 – from 736,177 tons to 850,106 tons.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan became the main cement exporter to Georgia in 2021 with $30.6 million worth of exports – an increase of 66.3 percent, compared to 2020 ($18.4 million).
Turkey is second on the list with $13.1 million worth of cement exports to Georgia, which is a decrease of 25.1 percent, compared to $17.5 million over 2020.
Russia ranked third among main cement exporters to Georgia in 2021. Georgia’s cement imports from Russia in the reporting period amounted to $21,630 – an increase of 48.6 percent, compared to $14,550 worth of imports in 2020.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports in 2021 amounted to $10 billion – an increase of 25.1 percent, compared to $8 billion over 2020.
