Russia, Moscow, 14 March / Trend corr. R.Agayev / Russia recognizes the independence of unrecognized republics, which contradicts its decision undertaken within the framework of the CIS.

"This means that we will have to obliterate 1975, when Brejnev issued a set of renowned documents, which stated that any possible territorial reshape in Europe would lead to a war". This statement was made by Vadim Gustov, chairman of the Committee on CIS affairs of Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly, who participated in the parliamentary hearing in the Russian Parliament, dedicated to the state of regulation of conflicts in CIS countries and appealed to the Government to recognize the independence of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestroviye.

According to Gustov, the most rational solution at this stage is to provide assistance and the UN Security Council's decisions to keep their status and implement an economic policy. "The development of economy of these countries is relevant as it enables people to live a normal life and for politics to tackle problems specific to the four conflicts in the CIS area," Gustov stated. In 1972 and 1973 the United States passed a Bill in which Taiwan, without status, managed to become the economically developed part of China without any conflict with China.

Gustov believes that if there wasn't a similar situation in Kosovo then the issue to recognize Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Pridnestroviye would not arise. "Most of these 19 states, which recognized Kosovo's independence, do not understand what the conflict is and in particular, its consequences," Gustov added.
