Four suspected robbers were killed in separate anti-crime operations just outside the Philippine capital in the aftermath of a deadly bank robbery, police said Thursday, dpa reported.
The operations were conducted in Tanauan town in Batangas province, 75 kilometres south of Manila, said provincial police commander Superintendent Willy Atun.
Atun said one suspect was killed in the first encounter on Wednesday evening, while three others were killed in a separate firefight early Thursday.
A policeman was critically wounded in the first firefight.
Atun said police were still determining if the slain suspects were involved in one of the worst bank robberies in nearby Laguna province on May 16, where 10 people were killed.
The victims, mostly bank employees, were shot in the head by the robbers before they fled with their loot in Cabuyao town in Laguna.
