Accusations against President of Sudan to be made on Mar. 4

International Criminal Court will make accusations against the President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir on Mar. 4, Al-Jazeera Web site reported.

The International Court accuses al-Bashir of military crimes in Darfur. The chief prosecutor of the International Court, Louis Moraine Okampo requested to give out arrest warrant in July 2008, accusing al-Bashir of genocide against the population in the province of Darfur.

The accusations against al-Bashir are connected with the conflict in the Sudan region of Darfur, which aggravated in 2003. The ethnic Black tribes living in Darfur required the Arab government of the country to give independence, which as a result led to the collisions with the armed forces of Sudan.

According to the estimation of United Nations, during the conflict in Darfur, approximately 2.5 million people remained without home, and the number of killed reaches 300,000. In Sudan the joint peacemaking contingent of United Nations and African union was placed in 2007.
