9 Taliban insurgents killed in central Afghanistan

Afghan troops with the support of NATO -led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) have killed nine Taliban fighters in Wardak province, some 70 km west of Afghan capital Kabul, an official said on Thursda, reported Xinhua.
   
Shahidullah Shahid, the spokesman for Wardak governor, told Xinhua that Afghan army and police with ISAF forces conducted a joint operation, launched in Syed Abad district Wednesday evening, killing Taliban commander Mullah Baqi and his eight fighters.
   
Mullah Baqi was also in charge of the Syed Abad district which was controlled by Taliban militants, Shahid added.
   
He said that "the joint forces also call on air raids in the operation during which one suspected man was also arrested."
   
However, local resident claimed that the air raid also left some civilians dead but Shahid noticed that investigation is being held to investigate on that claim.
   
Taliban militants fighting Afghan and international troops have yet to make comments.  Enditem
