Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that efforts were underway to determine the date of the 5th round of Israeli-Syrian peace talks which were being held under the supervision of Turkey.

Turkish officials kept holding talks with both parties in an effort to determine the date of the next gathering, the ministry said in a written statement.

The ministry said it had been previously declared that the parties agreed in principle to hold the talks on September 18th & 19th, reported Worldbulletin.

However, Israel requested that the talks be delayed as certain technical and legal proceedings regarding the structure of the Israeli delegation could not be completed due to the latest developments in the Israeli politics, the statement added.

According to the statement, Israeli officials also emphasized that Israel was ready to participate in the talks as soon as the proceedings were completed.

Syrian officials were notified of Israel's request, Turkish Foreign Ministry said, adding that Syria expressed its willingness to carry on with the talks as well.
