President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the fight against terrorist organizations and strengthening of Turkey's defense industry are among his country's priorities.
The local news channel TRT Haber quoted Erdogan also saying Nov. 11 that Turkey intends to develop its economic strength as well.
In recent years, Turkey has focused on the development of domestic industry as part of a project dubbed 'Objective 2023'.
Earlier, the Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. (TUSAS) developed the first domestic training aircraft called HURKUS, which will be made available for Turkey's Air Force in 2017.
Turkish Undersecretariat for Defense Industries also decided to start a mass production of the HURKUS aircraft.
The Air Force of Turkey has said that at the first stage, the country will build 15 of this aircraft.
TUSAS also produces parts for the F-16 fighters, A380 passenger planes, and A400M military aircraft.
Since last year, TUSAS has been also producing diffusers for the Airbus A350.
