Turkish Antalya Airport's cargo, passenger traffic spike in 1H2021

The cargo turnover at Turkish Antalya International Airport from January through June 2021 spiked, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on August 2.

According to the ministry, this indicator made up 48,121 tons, thus increasing by 75 percent on annual basis.

In the first half of this year, cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport climbed to 10,100 tons (growth of 38 percent compared to the period from January through June 2020) while on international flights was 32,021 tons (surge of 102 percent).

Passenger traffic at the airport exceeded 4.19 million, which is by 69 percent more than in 1H2020. Over 1.6 million passengers were served on domestic flights (14-percent increase), while over 2.5 million passengers - on international flights (142-percent surge).

The ministry also noted that the number of flights was 34,959 from January through June 2021, which is by 56 percent more than in the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, 16,454 domestic flights (increase by 22 percent) and 18,505 international flights (growth by 106 percent) were made.

Over 40.2 million passengers and 1.3 million tons of cargo had been transported through all Turkish airports from January through June 2021, added the ministry.
