A criminal case was launched against the Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismayilova on charges of inciting the former correspondent of Azadlig (Freedom) radio and Meydan TV broadcasting company, Tural Mustafayev, to commit suicide, the Azerbaijani Attorney General's Office said Dec. 6.

The Attorney General's Office said in a message that on Oct. 20, Tural Mustafayev took zinc oxide, which is harmful to human body, and attempted to commit suicide in the Seaside National Park.

The Sabail District Attorney's Office launched a criminal case on the incident under the Criminal Code's article 125 (inciting to suicide).

According to the message, Mustafayev, appealing to the Attorney General's Office, said that Ismayilova, with whom he had close relations, while working in the Baku office of the radio Azadlig pressured him and pursued, constantly humiliated and degraded him.

Mustafayev in his appeal asked to take appropriate actions against her in connection with inciting to suicide.
