The Darkhan frontier post was opened in the South Kazakhstan region on the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the border service of the Kazakh National Security Committee said.

A new frontier post Darkhan was solemnly opened in Saryagash district of South Kazakhstan region," a statement says.

A group of deputies of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate (upper house of the parliament) of Kazakhstan and representatives of akimat (local executive bodies) of South Kazakhstan region attended the opening ceremony.

While opening the solemn meeting, the director of the border service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Nurlan Dzhulamanov said that the measures have been taken to improve the border.

Around 20 border facilities have been built and commissioned for a year. Around 26 facilities were overhauled. Around 1,000 families of servicemen were provided with housing.
