The meeting of the Foreign Ministers Azerbaijan of and Armenia Elmar Mammadyarov and Edward Nalbandian will take place in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting to be held on May 17-18 in Krakow, Poland, a diplomatic source told Trend.

The meeting of representatives of the Eastern Partnership and the Visegrad Four will also be attended by the head of EU diplomacy Catherine Ashton and EU Commissioner Stefan Füle.

Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Minister at a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, said a new meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the sides of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is to take place. "A meeting at the highest level is also possible," Nalbandian said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
