Kazakhstan and Ukraine signed an agreement on military cooperation on Tuesday, Kazakh Defense Ministry reported.

The document was signed by the Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov and his Ukrainian counterpart Mikhail Yezhel in Astana.

The parties also approved the ministry's cooperation program for 2012.

Kazakh-Ukrainian military cooperation is carried out within the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Kazakh agreement on military-technical cooperation dated 2005 and the Agreement on military cooperation between the defense ministries' dated 1997.

Dzhaksybekov invited Yezhel to the celebrations on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Kazakh Armed Forces in Astana on May 7, 2012, and the second Kazakh international arms and military equipment exhibition "KADEX-2012", to be held on the eve of Kazakh Army Anniversary.
