Georgia increases import of goods from Azerbaijan by over 4 %

Georgia imported products worth $396.58 million from Azerbaijan in January-August 2014, the Georgian National Statistics Service's foreign trade report says.

The volume of imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 4.5 percent per year. For comparison, Georgia imported Azerbaijani goods worth $379.68 million in January-August 2013, the report says.

Azerbaijan ranks third in the list of countries from which Georgia imports products. The share of Azerbaijan's exports in a total volume of goods imported in Georgia is 7.2 percent.

Georgia imports most goods from Turkey. The volume of Georgian imports from Turkey amounted to $ 1.1 billion in January-August this year or 20.1 percent of a total import volume. China ranks second with $491.44 million and a share of 8.9 percent of a total volume of Georgia's import.

Georgia mainly imports gas, oil products, electricity and other products from Azerbaijan.
