Azerbaijan hopes that its accession to the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will give it a chance to make contributions to the forum, said the country's minister of industry and energy, Natig Aliyev.
Addressing the GECF Leaders Summit as an observing guest, Minister Aliyev said Azerbaijan believes to be an active helper to the forum if it becomes a member, Trend correspondent reported from the Tehran Summit Conference Hall Nov. 23.
He further called on all participating sides to pay more attention to the rational use of energy resources, ecology, and environment.
The minister added that Azerbaijan started to work in the gas sector over 50 years ago, and now it is cooperating with Russia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and other countries to make more use of its resources and regional position.
