Implementation of Garadagh Solar Power Plant project will allow to notably lower the CO2 emissions, UAE Energy and Infrastructure Minister Suhail Al Mazroui said at a press conference on groundbreaking ceremony for the plant with a design capacity of 230 MW, Trend reports.

According to Al Mazroui, Azerbaijan is successfully developing its policy in the field of "green" energy, and the UAE participation in this process is of great importance for the development of bilateral strategic partnership.

The minister noted that the implementation of this project will reduce CO2 emissions to 2,000 tons per year and provide electricity to 110,000 residential buildings.

Besides, 20 percent of building materials will be purchased on the local market, which is extremely important for the development of Azerbaijani enterprises, he emphasized.

Al Mazroui stressed that the leadership of Azerbaijan is working on the development of "green" energy, and the UAE supports this approach.
