Georgian Defense Ministry suspends trainings in Krtsanisi Training Center

The Georgian Defense Ministry has suspended the trainings in Krtsanisi Training Center, during which an explosion that killed three and wounded 13 military servicemen took place this morning, the head of the Department of Public Affairs of the Georgian Defense Ministry Salome Makharadze said at a special briefing.

The Georgian Defense Ministry has suspended the trainings in Krtsanisi Training Center, during which an explosion that killed three and wounded 13 military servicemen took place this morning, the head of the Department of Public Affairs of the Georgian Defense Ministry Salome Makharadze said at a special briefing.

The military police and the General Inspectorate of the Defense Ministry conduct investigation.

Makharadze said that the teachings were suspended by the end of the investigation. "The units of the Defense Ministry have been recently conducting intensive trainings. The explosion occurred as a result of these exercises," she said.

Roughly three Georgian military servicemen were killed and 13 wounded as a result of the explosion at a military base in Krtsanisi, the Ministry of Defence said.

"The explosion occurred at 11 a.m. during the trainings. The blast was caused by a technical error," a statement said.

Meanwhile, General Director of Rustavi hospital Papunya Bakhtadze said that four wounded soldiers are in serious condition.

Roughly, 13 wounded military were taken to the hospital, while four of them needed urgent surgery.
