A strong explosion occurred Friday evening on the Mozdok-Gazimagomed trunk gas pipeline in Azerbaijan's Shamakhi region. As a result, a fire started.
By now the fire has already been extinguished, State Fire Service's Shamakhi Department's employee told Trend early Saturday.
The explosion caused no casualties or injuries. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.
Shamakhi region police office representative told Trend that the explosion occurred on the part of the pipeline leading from city of Shamakhi to Gizmeydan village. Currently, gas supply by the pipeline is halted.
Mozdok-Gazimagomed trunk gas pipeline was built in 1983. It supplies natural gas from Azerbaijan to Russia.
Shamakhi city is located in 135 km from Baku.
