Cause of Collapse of 16-Storey Building in   Baku Due to Uneven Foundations: Emergency Situations Ministry

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The cause of the collapse of a16-storey building in one of Baku's central streets was due to uneven foundations and low-quality construction work, Tural Museibov, the press-secretary of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Azerbaijan, said on 4 September.

This conclusion was come to as a result of an examination held by the Agency on security control in construction work at the Emergency Situations Ministry. The results of the examination will be announced on 5 September.

The building which was under construction by the company Mutaffakir collapsed on 28 August at 5pm. The head of the company, Askar Aliyev, was arrested for contravening Article 222 (violation of safety regulations in construction work) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The death toll has reached 15.
