Emergency Services System to be  Improved in   Baku – Azerbaijani President

Ismayilova / The Emergency Services system of Baku will be improved in the near future, Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, said at the foundation laying ceremony of an educational-therapeutic clinic in Baku on 18 September. According to the President, 150 ambulances will be purchased, and an operative communication system including all the necessary medicals will be provided to the public.

Regarding the construction of a new building, Ilham Aliyev noted that AZN 3mln had been allocated from the President's Reserve Fund for the preliminary construction. The Baku Oncology Centre will open next year, and a new building at the Traumatology Institute will be put into exploitation by the end of the year, he said. Funds for the construction of the Centre for Kidney Transplantation at the Urological Hospital will be allotted and the Urological Hospital building will be reconstructed in the near future.

The Azerbaijan State Oil Fund plans to open 12 medical-diagnostic centres, two of which are already functioning in Lankaran and Nakhchivan, President Aliyev said. Twenty-five medical centres will soon be constructed in Baku villages, he said.

Along with the construction of a new building, the foundations of which was laid today, the construction of a surgery building at the Medical University is planned. On the whole, approximately 50 medical establishments have been constructed and repaired in Azerbaijan in 2007, the President said.

Medical funds allocated in Azerbaijan have increased 5.4 times during the recent four years (from AZN 69mln to AZN 371mln).
