Romania, Bucharest /corr. Trend Y.Aliyev / The official opening ceremony of the building of the representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bucharest took place on 24 September. The event was attended by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and Romania, Trayan Basesku, First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyev and senior officials.
The building which is located in the center of the capital, Popa Soare 39 Street, was constructed in the 1820s. The building, a total area of 1020 m2, was used as a branch of the National Bank of Romania and the office of the Protocol Service of the Romanian Government. The representation of Heydar Aliyev Foundation is the 12th foreign organization that was permitted to function in Romania over the recent 20 years.
During the event, the Romanian President signed the book of honorable guests of the Foundation.
Heydar Aliyev Foundation was established in Azerbaijan in 2004 as a non-governmental and non-commercial organization involved in humanitarian activity.
