Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 January / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Ayaz Rustamov, the former chairman of the Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP), recognized that health problem was not the reason for his resignation. "The main reason for my resignation from the chairmanship post is abomination that I have witnessed amongst the opposition," Rustamov said to Trend.
Novruzoglu was detained on the grounds of documents submitted by the Baku Executive Power to the Prosecutor General's Office. The investigation was implemented by the Investigation Department on Heinous Crimes at the Prosecutor General's Office.
Rustamov accused heads of the opposition parties of following their own interest. "Being a chairman I had close relations with political parties, and I sensed the problems," Rustamov said.
In 2007, the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan changed its political course and took a constructive policy towards the authorities. Isa Gambar, Musavat party chairman, proposed to hold negotiations with the Authorities during the meeting of Assembly of the party.
Rustamov considers that all these persuasions remain unrequited; therefore the opposition should stick to its level. "Everybody wants discussions between the Authorities and the position, as well as solidarity amongst the public. However, daily persuasions concerning the possible discussions between the authorities and opposition change of political course strikes a blow on the opposition electorate. Sardar Jalaloglu position cannot destroy the unity amongst the opposition, but it may stir up trouble," he said.
Rustamov considers that such parties like DPA and Musavat follow their private purpose.
ANIP was the first party to receive registration in Azerbaijan in 1992. Etibar Mammadov had been the founder and chairman of the party by 2004. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Alliance.
