Number of Those Striving to Run for Presidency Increases in Azerbaijani Democratic Party

Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 February / Trend corr G. Jabiyev / The number of those striving to become presidential candidates increased in the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP), the chair of the ADP Sardar Jalaloglu said to Trend on 12 February.

The name of the presidential candidate from ADP will be divulged at the party's administration meeting on 16 February.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will take place in October.

"Gurban Mammadov, an ADP member, intends to nominate himself for the presidential candidate position. Moreover, there are members willing to nominate the chair of the ADP administration Vagif Shirinov," Jalaloglu said.

At the beginning of 2007, the ADP ceased its radical political course.
